Sara Benhabbari
Founder of Moroccan Marathon Runners
As a runner, I felt it important to share my story about why I run and how it all began.
I participated for 4 years in running events sponsored by Go Sport Maroc, Asics and City Sport Maroc as a social media manager and I was doing media coverage… and suddenly something crazy happened in 2016 though!!
So, my journey into running started at the age of 26, I ran 4 times per month and in 2016, I decided to turn my love for running & sport into something that could benefit others by creating Moroccan Marathon Runners.
The organisation’s main goal is to organize running programs for people, regardless of their level of fitness, to encourage them to take up this healthy and enjoyable discipline. This idea was to bring together friends, families, and couples and create a sense of community among them.
For me, running has always been more than just a physical exercise. It’s a way to connect with people, build relationships, and inspire others.
I started organizing virtual runs challenges in Facebook group, where people could participate from their homes, cities or countries.
Today, Moroccan Marathon Runners continues to thrive, even in the face of adversity. My message to everyone is that with the right mindset, there is no such thing as impossible. Running may be a physical discipline, but its benefits extend far beyond the body. It’s a way to connect with others, push yourself, and achieve things you never thought possible.
